What types of Stairlift are on the market?

There are two main types of lift, a Straight, and a Curved. Which lift you end up with is all dependent on the shape and layout of your particular staircase.

Will a Stairlift damage my walls, banister, or stairs?

Contrary to a lot of beliefs, all of our Stairlifts are secured firmly to the stairs treads, not to the walls/banister, ensuring that no damage is caused to your walls, or banisters. In the event that a stairlift is removed a few years later, there will be minimal signs of it’s prior existence.

What if I have a power cut, will I still be able to get to bed?

Unlike Stairlifts of many years ago, all current models utilise batteries for their operation. This ensures that even in the event of a powercut, you will still be able to get upstairs safely. This Ultra Low Voltage source of power also ensures maximum safety for our engineers as well as yourself, the end user.

Will my Stairlift break down?

All Stairlifts are wonderful pieces of engineering, but being electro-mechanical they always do run the chance of occasionally going on stop.

Anyone that tells you otherwise are simply lying. This is why, customer service is ever so important. In the event of failure, us at Ability Assist will go out of our way, 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to ensure that we do our best to keep you moving

How long does it take a stairlift to be installed?

All of our Stairlifts will take maximum of one day to fit. Lead time can vary.

Straight lifts generally being an in stock item, can be installed as early as next day.

Curved Stairlifts are a little different, they are made bespoke for your staircase ensuring the best compatibility and fit possible. These will often incur a lead time of a few weeks however we will always do our best to get the stairlifts to yourself as soon as possible.

What warranty and service packages do you offer?

All of our New Stairlifts come with a minimum of 36 months warranty, while our reconditioned items carry 3 months.

We also offer tailor-made service packages for each of our models – please see the description of each stairlift in our products section to see these. These are designed to give you the ultimate peace of mind with your purchase. Depending on the package, all Servicing, Breakdowns, Parts, and Labour can be covered for as long as up to 5 years. With one of these packages, you won’t have to worry about contacting us every year for a service, we will sort it all from our end, giving you one less thing to worry about.
